Beauceron - French Shepherd

Beauceron is the name of the French Shepherd breed, which was specially bred to guard livestock in a region called Beauce. According to the researchers of this rare herding dog, it is a direct descendant of medieval wolves, but today the Beauceron are considered excellent watchmen who have earned the complete trust of people. These brave companions are endowed with strength and endurance, endlessly loyal to the owner and ready to protect the family from intruders.

Beauceron character and temperament

French Shepherds - quickly socialize, because they have a balanced psyche, it is difficult to piss them off, although they are freedom-loving creatures and have a sense of pride and independence, but they need love and understanding from the owners. Genetic heritage has provided the breed with special attention to detail, they are smart, extremely smart, feel the mood of the owner and completely trust him.

Beauceron tend to be dominant, especially the "boys" - they immediately become leaders in the "pack" of pets, but they can also refer to some family members who show weakness in relations with the "leader". The genes of the herding dog make them "build" everyone, except for the owner, family members, because they consider them helpless sheep that need to be protected. The Berger de Beauce is built to protect the weak, so they become patient nannies for young children.

Beauceron puppies have a habit of pinching people's legs, as if showing them the direction of movement, there is no harm from this - as their ancestors controlled flocks, therefore this gesture cannot be considered aggression, rather it is a manifestation of vigilance and care for all family members.

French Shepherds fully accept the leadership of the owner, obeying implicitly, but they will not wear slippers, like other breeds, because their credo is “ready to serve, but not to serve”. You need to build a relationship with Beauceron with respect and love. Excessive love for the owner has a negative side - beauceron does not tolerate long separations, it may even refuse to eat.
If the French Shepherd does not get enough physical exertion to throw out the accumulated energy, then it becomes irritable, indifferent to others or shows excessive aggressiveness.

Description of the breed

Beauceron is a large breed, with a powerful and muscular body, but it looks fit, even graceful, many dog ​​lovers confuse it with a Rottweiler or Doberman, as well as a cross between these breeds with German shepherds. Beauceron adoption requires sufficient space.
